Bachelor of Business Economics Bachelor of Business Economics 1001.Program Overview01.Program Overview12
Ø  Background to the program and subject area:
The Economics major provides a comprehensive analysis of how the economic system works in Jordan and throughout the world. The introductory courses are surveys of economic problems, policies, and theory; and the required courses in micro theory and macro theory give a deeper analytical foundation. Electives permit further study in a wide range of fields, including money and banking, international trade and finance, public sector economics, economic development, feasibility studies, labor economics, industrial organization, environmental economics, law and economics, and econometrics.
The Economics major provides a general background that is useful to those planning careers in research and development, government service, or business as well as those planning careers as professional economists. Professional economists work as college teachers, as researchers for government agencies, businesses, and consulting firms, and as administrators and managers in a wide range of fields.
Ø  Vision statements of the program:
Vision: Business Economics Department is internationally recognized for the quality of teaching and research. Therefore, our vision is to generate and disseminate knowledge in the fields of economics that include industrial, fiscal, resource and environmental, monetary, international, development, human resource and Islamic economics, econometrics and research. Our vision also to provide leaders and policy-makers with the tools they need to better understand the process of economic development, enabling them to help craft policies that expand the opportunities and achievements of people.
Ø  Mission statements of the program:
The mission of the Department of Economics is ultimately to support the missions of the University of Jordan by providing quality instruction and training to bachelor, master, and Ph.D. students to prepare them for successful careers; engaging in scholarly research activity to maintain academic participation and advance knowledge in the field of economics; and providing service to the university and the society at large. Our mission is to provide high quality undergraduate and graduate education and extraordinary learning experiences that prepare our students for positions in business, industry, and government on a local, national, and global level.
 Ø  Program Aims:
1.  To provide the students with the knowledge related to the microeconomic and macroeconomic theories.
2.    To develop the ability of students to find economic data.
3.    To develop the ability of students to solve the contemporary economic problem.
4.    To qualify the students to know how to deal with applied economic issues.

Bachelor of Management Information Systems Bachelor of Management Information Systems 901.Program Overview01.Program Overview12
Ø Background to the program and subject area:
In response to the requirements of the labour market and due to the urgent need for qualified and trained cadres in the field of management information systems (MIS) for various businesses, the undergraduate degree in management information systems was started in the academic year 2003/2004 and an independent department for MIS in the faculty of business was established in the academic year 2004/2005.
The department provides an integrated study plan (132 credit hours) that includes courses in a variety of relevant subject-specific disciplines which are offered to MIS as well as to other faculty students according to their study plans. The department prepares distinguished graduates that keep abreast of developments in the field of technology and also skilled in maintaining the different types of information systems in organizations. The study plan was carefully designed to provide graduates with the necessary technical and managerial knowledge that is required to help them analyse, design, develop as well as apply and manage information systems. MIS graduates combine both the managerial and technical backgrounds necessary to enable them utilize the appropriate techniques in the various areas of business management for problem solving. The department has three modern computer labs, which are used in teaching programming languages, databases, business modelling and simulation, electronic communications and networks, applications of information technology tools, office automation systems, and the practical modules of other offered courses. Currently, the department has eleven members who hold PhD degrees, and two candidates who are university-sponsored to complete their doctoral degrees in management information systems from universities in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Ø Vision statements of the program:
To be nationally and regionally recognized as a leader for advancing the state-of-the-art MIS discipline at the intersection of human, technological and organizational systems, through educational innovations, research, and strategic collaborations, and to be renowned for the high quality of its graduates.
Ø Mission statements of the program:
To provide students with a sound Management Information Systems (MIS) education (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) that enables them to assume a leadership role in professional, ethical and environmental frames, and to advance their understanding of the application of Management Information Systems (MIS) principles for preparing them to enter the IT and business markets with the ability to apply their acquired skills in information technology and business management to the organizational and managerial needs of the business and commercial world.
Ø  Program Aims:
1.    Apply the new study plan by the beginning of the Academic year2015/2016.
2.    Implementation of the master’s program (MBA/ IS Management) in the academic year 2015/2016.
3.    Planning for the implementation process of the proposed research centres which were submitted to the President of the University after obtaining the necessary approvals.
4.    Cooperating with the Deanship of the faculty to secure additional teaching halls for accommodating the increasing number of sections in the department.
