​The Dean of School of Business at the University of Jordan, Dr. Ra'ed Masa'deh Bani Yaseen, participated in the 2024 AACSB Middle East and North Africa Conference, held in  Egypt.

The conference included nine sessions that brought together academics, thought leaders, and specialists from the finance, business, and industry sectors in the Middle East and North Africa region. They participated in discussions and explored strategies and contemporary issues in business management education and labor market requirements.

On the first day of the conference, sustainable initiatives were discussed, highlighting the importance of collaboration and partnership across disciplines, applied research, and effective responses to economic and societal needs. Additionally, the session focused on how to successfully navigate the journey of international accreditation.

The sessions on the second day focused on AI-powered resources that can provide personalized learning experiences and transformative opportunities for innovation in the education sector. They also addressed the need for strong quality metrics and the development of entrepreneurial ecosystems within universities.

The conference also provided an enabling platform for business education institutions to play a significant and collaborative role in delivering a sustainable positive impact across the Middle East and North Africa region.​

For his part, the Dean of School of Business, Dr.  Bani Yaseen, emphasized that the School's participation in this conference aligns with its goals of adopting accreditation standards and ensuring both local and global quality assurance across all academic programs. He also highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of quality among the college's staff, developing relationships with external entities that support research and scientific projects, and making a significant contribution to improving the university's standing and ranking in global university rankings.

It is worth noting that the conference, hosted by the College of Business at the American University in Cairo, was attended by deans of business schools, academics, business leaders, and experts from labor markets.​

​Dr. Hala Zidan, Assistant Dean for Accreditation and International Rankings at School of Business, participated in the specialized accreditation conference and workshops organized by the AACSB Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) in Glasgow, Scotland.

The conference addressed the key plans and strategies that help recently accredited business schools continue their development and prepare for the next stages. Among the topics discussed were the college’s action plan with graduates, measuring learning outcomes, and ensuring that the college’s plans align with the labor market and technological advancements.

The conference included specialized workshops on the best practices and applications for measuring the societal impact of academics and students in business schools.


The Dean of School of Business, Dr. Ra'ed Masa'deh Bani Yaseen, emphasized that the school's participation in this conference aligns with its goals of adopting accreditation standards and ensuring both local and global quality assurance across all academic programs. ​Assistant Professor in Operations Management and Innovation, and Assistant Dean for Quality and Local Accreditaion at School of Business, Dr. Rima Al Hassan, recently participated in the 31st Annual Conference of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), held at Esade University in Barcelona from June 29 to July 4, 2024.

Dr. Al Hassan presented her research paper on achieving sustainability and resilience in innovation and operations systems. This paper is a key part of a collaborative research project she is conducting with researchers from the research group at the University of Warwick in the UK, the University of Granada in Spain, and the Otto-von-Guericke University in Germany. The project delves into the management of relationships within innovation systems, with a focus on balancing sustainability and resilience in business operations.

The EurOMA Association was founded in 1993 and is an international network of academics and practitioners from around the world in the fields of operations management, supply chain management, and logistics.

The EurOMA conference attracted over 500 research papers and participants from around the world in the field of operations management. It provided a vibrant platform for academics and practitioners to exchange ideas, insights, and advancements in the field. The conference is highly regarded for hosting leading scholars, field pioneers, and editors of top journals, making it a critical venue for advancing knowledge and practices in operations management.​

It is worth noting that Dr. Al Hassan's research project was among the selected works to receive the Early Career Researchers Grant from the European Operations Management Association in 2023, highlighting the innovative approach of the project and its significance in the field. Additionally, Dr. Al-Hassan previously received the Chris Voss Best Paper Award at the EurOMA Global Conference in 2021. Along with presenting a research paper, Dr. Al-Hassan actively participated in various conference activities, including networking with journal editors and renowned scholars to gain valuable feedback on her research. These interactions are pivotal in enhancing her work and contributing to the broader academic discussion.

For his part, the Dean of School of Business, Dr. Ra'ed Masa'deh Bani Yaseen, emphasized the importance of school members' participation in international conferences, noting that it enhances international collaboration, improves the university’s ranking, and contributes to fostering an environment that supports research and excellence. He encouraged further participation in distinguished scientific conferences.​

Dr. Mutaz Al-Debei, Professor of Technology Management and a member of the Department of Management Information Systems at School of Business at the University of Jordan, participated in the International Conference specialized in Digital Transformation and Innovation Management in Hungary.

The conference served as a leading platform for researchers, academics, and industry practitioners to meet and explore advanced technologies in the field of Information Systems and Innovation Management, fostering a collaborative environment that highlights the profound impact of digital transformation on organizational strategies, operations, and global social progress.

Al-Debeipresented a research paper exploring the transformative technology of the "metaverse" and the role of personal innovation in its acceptance and use. His study highlighted the future potential of metaverse technology and the significant role that personal innovation plays in its adoption and integration. It also examined how personal traits and the inclination toward innovation can influence the broader acceptance and use of these transformative technologies.

Researchers from international universities in Spain, Germany, and Austria expressed strong interest in future collaboration with Dr. Al-Debei and the researchers from School of Business, with the aim of conducting joint scientific research in this emerging field.

For his part, Dr. Ra'ed Masa'deh Bani Yaseen, Dean of School of Business, emphasized the importance of the school members' participation in such significant conferences, aiming to exchange knowledge and experiences, and enhance the cognitive and research skills of the teaching staff. He noted that these participations align with the School of Business's plan to encourage school members to publish research papers and promote scientific research in emerging fields.

He pointed out that the school strives to be a leader and distinguished at the local, regional, and international levels by contributing to the dissemination of scientific research and advancing in achieving prestigious global rankings. He commended the efforts of the participating colleagues and their contributions to the advancement of scientific research. He expressed his anticipation for further scientific participations aimed at promoting the culture of networking with universities at the local, regional, and global levels, encouraging scientific publication in high-level journals and publishing houses, enhancing research citation, and developing relationships with external entities that support research and scientific projects.

​Professor of Financial Economics, Dr. Diana Abughunmi from the School of Business, participated in the 36th Annual Conference of the Social Economy Advancement Association for a dignified and sustainable economic life at the University of Dundee, United Kingdom.


Dr. Abu Ghanem presented a research paper in collaboration with researchers from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom, and the University of Kenyatta, Kenya, titled:​ "Wastewater Treatment Plants from IME and CE Perspectives: the case of Jordan".  In the paper, she highlighted the importance of transitioning the financial sector from the current economic model, the "Linear Economy," to the models of "Islamic Moral Economy" and "Circular Economy" in order to address the challenges of climate change, the depletion of natural resources faced by the world, and how to achieve a sustainable economy.

The conference recommendations included the necessity of benefiting from the results of Dr. Abu Ghanem's paper and working on studying the economic, environmental, and social feasibility of various modern technologies.​

For his part, the Dean of School of Business, Dr. Ra'ed Masa'deh Bani Yaseen, emphasized the importance of the participation of faculty members from the College of Business in international conferences. This participation aims to exchange academic expertise and establish joint research projects, as it has a positive impact on the quality of the educational and research process at the school.​
