The Accounting Department at the School of Business organized a seminar entitled “The Performance of Companies Listed on the Amman Stock Exchange”

This seminar came as part of the accounting department's plan for practical application, according to what was stated by the department head, Dr. Ghaleb Abu Rumman, and as a conclusion to a series of lectures on financial statement analysis, whose students, under the supervision of Dr. Batoul Abdel Dayem, worked on building a comprehensive database for all non-financial companies listed in the Jordanian financial market that includes quantitative and descriptive information. The students applied the theoretical framework of the course and projected it on the ground by analyzing all the companies listed in the Amman Stock Exchange to coming up with recommendations about the companies' performance.

At the beginning of the session, the Dean welcomed the honorable attendees and emphasized that these seminars and scientific sessions are considered a basis for building consistency between the outputs of academic education and the requirements of the labor market and an effective means of obtaining feedback that contributes to the development of educational curricula in accordance with the needs and requirements of the market.

Dr. Batool Abdel-Dayem presented a plan for the project's workflow and emphasized that the main objectives of the project included building a database that contributes to providing researchers with the necessary data to enhance the quality and abundance of scientific research, as well as raising and strengthening the capabilities and merits of students in the field of financial analysis by providing the opportunity for students to work in an environment that simulates the real work of financial analysts. The project also contributed to building a broader perception for students about the nature of Jordanian companies and patterns of financial management, and getting to know more about the challenges and opportunities facing these companies.

The session included a dialogue with Eng. Mona Tobasi - Deputy General Manager of the Arab Company for Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines - Mbedco, one of the best listed companies in the Jordanian market in terms of performance. More information was given about the company's strategy that led to its outstanding performance.

In conclusion, the Dean of the school honored the distinguished students and praised their efforts in building this database, which is one of the largest databases in the Jordanian market. He further praised the work of their supervisor Dr. Batool.
