The University of Jordan and the Securities Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the aim of developing cooperation and enhancing the partnership between the two parties.
The memorandum was signed by the President of the University of Jordan, Dr. Nathir Obeidat, and the Chairman of the Securities Commission, Dr. Adel Bino, in the presence of the Dean of School of Business, Dr. Samer Eid Dahiyat, and a delegation from the Commission.
The memorandum of understanding stipulates enhancing joint cooperation between the two parties in areas such as training, delivering lectures, preparing joint scientific research, exchanging expertise, conducting joint research projects, co-organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences, as well as exchanging publications, books, journals, and research results.
The memorandum also included the preparation of a special program for university students, providing them with the opportunity to present new financial ideas, particularly those related to financial technology, and to benefit from and support these ideas. This initiative aims to stimulate students' capabilities and involves conducting regular training lectures for students specializing in financial markets.
Under the memorandum, technical and specialized cooperation will take place between the two parties, and the creation of special educational materials by the Securities Commission will be carried out. These materials will include courses related to the capital market to promote financial literacy among university students, as part of a broader effort to raise financial awareness.
Dr. Obedat emphasized the importance of the university's collaboration with other sectors, such as the industrial market, banks, and other sectors, for the purpose of training students. He also highlighted the need to attract experts to ensure that students are capable of competing in the local, regional, and global markets.
He pointed out that preparing and training students, equipping them for the labor market, and providing them with the necessary skills to work in institutions are among the top priorities that the university is keen to focus on.
For his part, Beino stated that the signing of this memorandum comes as part of a project to enhance cooperation between the Securities Commission and the university, with the aim of raising awareness about the securities market, its local and international regulations, and global practices among the university students, and providing them with the necessary skills to work in capital market institutions.
He added that the memorandum aims to train students and develop their skills during the pre-graduation stage, so they are prepared for the labor market.
