Course Description :

Pre-requisites: 1603211 Principles of Finance

This course involves the study of the components of the financial statements of financial institutions. It provides the analytical tools used to measure and manage risks facing a modern financial institution. Measuring and managing the interest rate risk that results from interest rate volatility and the market risk that results from trading bonds, equities, and foreign currencies is the main focus of this course. The course also touches upon the technology and operational risks and liquidity risk and how can the financial institution insulate itself from such risks. Finally, the course takes a look at how can financial institutions sell its loans to convert them into investments while raising immediate cash flows.
