Dr. Rima Al Hassan's participation in the EurOMA Global Conference in Spain

​Assistant Professor in Operations Management and Innovation, and Assistant Dean for Quality and Local Accreditaion at School of Business, Dr. Rima Al Hassan, recently participated in the 31st Annual Conference of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), held at Esade University in Barcelona from June 29 to July 4, 2024.

Dr. Al Hassan presented her research paper on achieving sustainability and resilience in innovation and operations systems. This paper is a key part of a collaborative research project she is conducting with researchers from the research group at the University of Warwick in the UK, the University of Granada in Spain, and the Otto-von-Guericke University in Germany. The project delves into the management of relationships within innovation systems, with a focus on balancing sustainability and resilience in business operations.

The EurOMA Association was founded in 1993 and is an international network of academics and practitioners from around the world in the fields of operations management, supply chain management, and logistics.

The EurOMA conference attracted over 500 research papers and participants from around the world in the field of operations management. It provided a vibrant platform for academics and practitioners to exchange ideas, insights, and advancements in the field. The conference is highly regarded for hosting leading scholars, field pioneers, and editors of top journals, making it a critical venue for advancing knowledge and practices in operations management.​

It is worth noting that Dr. Al Hassan's research project was among the selected works to receive the Early Career Researchers Grant from the European Operations Management Association in 2023, highlighting the innovative approach of the project and its significance in the field. Additionally, Dr. Al-Hassan previously received the Chris Voss Best Paper Award at the EurOMA Global Conference in 2021. Along with presenting a research paper, Dr. Al-Hassan actively participated in various conference activities, including networking with journal editors and renowned scholars to gain valuable feedback on her research. These interactions are pivotal in enhancing her work and contributing to the broader academic discussion.

For his part, the Dean of School of Business, Dr. Ra'ed Masa'deh Bani Yaseen, emphasized the importance of school members' participation in international conferences, noting that it enhances international collaboration, improves the university’s ranking, and contributes to fostering an environment that supports research and excellence. He encouraged further participation in distinguished scientific conferences.​
