An important key meeting was held at The University of Jordan School of Business (UJSB) between Prof. Dr. Samer Eid Dahiyat, Dean of the School, and Professor Dr. Sami Ben Naceur, Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) – Middle East Center for Economics and Finance (CEF) “IMF-CEF”, in addition to Dr. Moez Souissi, Deputy Director of the Center, on February 1st, 2026.
In this meeting, avenues of collaboration and ways to establish, develop and strengthen links between The University of Jordan School of Business (UJSB) and the IMF-Middle East CEF were discussed. These mainly included policy, research, and capacity development in the region, with a focus on practical, solution-oriented support for economic decision-makers.
The essential role of IMF–Middle East Center was outlined, in terms of supporting public institutions through training, policy dialogue, and knowledge-sharing on macroeconomic and financial issues relevant to the region.
Moreover, partnership opportunities the University of Jordan to help bridge academic work and real-world policymaking, were explored and emphasized.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Alaadin Abu Noktah, Prof Dr. AbdulHakeem AkhuIrshaideh, and Dr. Motasem Thunaibat, Vice Deans of the School, in addition to Prof. Dr. Ghada Tayyem, Chair of the Dept. of Finance; Dr. Adel Bino, Former Chairman of Jordan Securities Commission and Assoc. Prof. of Finance, and Dr. Raad Al-Tal, Assoc. Prof. of Econoimics, at the School.
Follow-up meetings were agreed upon in order to sign a Memorandum of Understanding organizing and institutionalizing the important cooperation between the two parties.
