Under the patronage of the Dean of the School of Business, Prof. Dr. Samer Dahiyat, the Finance Department organized its 6th open day on Tuesday, 10/29/2024. The Dean welcomed the department's students, expressing his pleasure to meet them and stressing that they are the focus of attention of the school as it strives to stimulate their knowledge and skills on both the academic and practical levels. He also explained to the students the school's tireless endeavor to raise the quality of learning, teaching, research and training methods in a manner consistent with the requirements of the local and global labor market, and that the result of this effort has culminated in the school's various programs obtaining international accreditation from the AACSB.
In turn, the Head of the Finance Department, Prof. Dr. Ghada Tayem, pointed out that the open day, an annual tradition in the Finance Department, is organized by the department's students which reflects the department's vision of building and expanding student capacities and skills. Dr. Muhammad Tayeh also spoke about the department's annual participation in the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) Challenge and the importance of participating in this competition that equips students with the practical skills necessary for the job market.
The participating students started with Muhammad Hamdan who gave an overview of the finance major, followed by Ghaith Alhabahbeh who introduced information on the professional certificates related to the finance major. Nour Alzaghoul and Lujain Ramadan also reviewed the job fields available to finance graduates. Followed by the co-leaders of the group Nabieha Alkhatatbeh and Bayan Joudeh, alongside the recent graduate Nibal Tuffaha, presented their experiences in competing in the CFA Challenge and the impact of this experience on their understanding and application of their finance major. Aya Ramadan explained the procedures for applying for the Erasmus Student Exchange Scholarships and the expected benefits of the study abroad experience.
The open day welcomed Mr. Suhaib Al-Tal (Treasury & Investment Director at Arab Potash Company), a graduate from the Finance Department, who spoke about the importance of obtaining professional certificates specialized in finance. Mr. Abdallah Tuwaiqat (the Chief Information Officer at Jordan Payments & Clearing Company JoPACC) spoke on behalf of Ms. Maha Albahou (the CEO at Jordan Payments & Clearing Company JoPACC) about the importance of financial technology and the changes it has brought about in the financial sector. The speakers' contributions raised many questions from the audience, which were moderated by the master of ceremony, Ibrahim Sandouka, with the support of his colleague Ahmed Alshalabi.
At the end of the event, the Dean of the School distributed certificates of appreciation to the event organizers and participants.
