The aim of the BSc program in MIS is to understand the management of information systems in the context of the organizational issues and how computer-based systems can facilitate the needs of business.

MIS students at the undergraduate level are required to successfully pass 132 credit hours in order to earn their Bachelor's degree, which includes principles of MIS, programming languages, databases, systems analysis, business modeling and simulation, electronic communications and networks, electronic commerce, applications of information technology tools, office automation systems, knowledge management systems, and the practical modules of other offered courses.

Economics students at the undergraduate level are required to successfully pass 132 credit hours in order to earn their Bachelor's degree in Business Economics.

In addition to principles in macro- and microeconomics, students are subject to study a variety of courses in the field such as: Macroeconomic theory, microeconomic theory, monetary theory, financial economics, international economics, econometrics, managerial economics, labour economics, economics of development, Islamic economics, history of economic thought, and others.

The Master's program in Business Economics was established in 1978. The program accepts candidates with Bachelor's degrees in Economics as well as from various academic backgrounds such as: Financial Economics, Agricultural Economics, Islamic Economics, Economics of Insurance, Political Economics,  Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, and Mathematics.
 
This is a two-track program: thesis track and non-thesis track. Students are required to successfully pass (33) credit hours in order to earn their Master's degree in Business Economics. In the thesis track case, credit hours are (18) credit hours as obligatory courses, (6) credit-hours as elective courses, and a successful completion of a (9) credit hour thesis. In the non-thesis track case, credit hours are (21) credit hours as obligatory courses, (12) credit hours as elective courses, and the successful completion of the comprehensive exam.

The PhD program in Business Economics, established in 2003, accepts students with Master's degrees from academic backgrounds such as: Economics, Financial Economics, Agricultural Economics, Islamic Economics, Economics of Insurance, Political Economics,  Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, and Mathematics. 

Students are required to successfully pass (54) credit hours in order to earn their Doctoral degrees in Business Economics. Credit hours are (21) credit hours as obligatory courses, (15) credit-hours as elective courses, passing specific knowledge efficiency exam, and a successful completion of (18) credit hours thesis.
 
Currently the Department of Business Economics has 660 students enrolled in the undergraduate program, 44 students are enrolled in the Master's program (22 students on the non–thesis track, and 22 students on the thesis track), and 41 students enrolled in the PhD program.
