Events management introductory webinar at the school of business

The School of Business hosted Ms. Rasha Al-Khalidi, Senior events sales manager at Hyatt Regency Aqaba, Ayla Resort, to talk about how to manage events in the tourism and hospitality sector. The webinar covered several topics, including the main stages of the events management process starting with clients' requests, passing by the development of the event proposal by the organizer, managing operations, cross-functional collaboration and communication, and finishing with holding the event at the designated time and place. The speaker emphasized the skills required for events managers and planners to be successful in the hospitality and tourism sector such as time management, accuracy, follow-up, and continuous improvement.

The Dean of the College of Business, Prof. Dr. Ra'ed Masa'deh Bani Yaseen stressed the importance of connecting theory and practice in various business courses. Essentially, sharing practitioners' experiences could enhance students' skills, develop their capabilities and prepare them for the job market in various sectors including the hospitality and tourism sector.

In turn, the Assistant Dean for Quality Assurance Affairs, Dr. Rima Wahid Al Hasan, added that event management skills are related to various fields of business management, including tourism management, leadership, innovation, project management, and others. Noting the importance of the academic and practical seminars held by the School of Business in contributing to the achievement of the desired learning outcomes from the various college programs.

In conclusion, Prof. Dr. Ra'ed Masa'deh Bani Yaseen, Dean of the School, expressed his appreciation to the speaker and the organizers of this event, looking forward to holding more seminars that link academic education with the applied practical sector
